Seattle

Drew and I left for Beijing on Friday the 2nd, but first we had a 10 hour layover in Seattle.  This was a bummer, but we turned lemons into lemonade and headed into the city.  Our first order of business was lunch, so we headed to Cyber Dogs, an internet cafe that serves up gourmet vegetarian hot dogs.    I know, that looks like a mess, but it was yummy! Drew ate the California dog, with salsa, avocado, bacon, and fresh veggies.  I ate El Bandito, with chili, cheese, avocado, and salsa.  They were really quite good, and well worth the trek.

Next, we headed to Pike Place Market.  It was crazy, packed, and a sight to behold.  There were 3 floors of vendors selling fresh fruits and veggies, seafood, fresh cut flowers, crafts, and much more.  If I were a local, I’d probably stay far, far away, but as a tourist, it was a must-see.  We wandered around and bought some cherries and snow peas to snack on during our flight.

The original Starbucks is located in Seattle, but this is not it.

The original is actually around the corner.  Like any major city in the U.S., there is a Starbucks every block or so.

When we were finished walking around, we went to the Columbia Center Observation Deck to get a nice view of the city:

Then we took a coffee and donut break in, of course, a Starbucks.
